Job Purpose:**


We are seeking a highly motivated candidate to work within the Valuation Control Group as senior finance analyst (AVP level) in Collateral/Client Valuations and Non-Markets areas.


The candidate must have a strong understanding of the valuation of financial instruments, implementing/maintaining an effective control framework, along with regulatory developments and global account standards that impact financial valuations.


The role will cover valuation control of the Collateral/Client Valuations and Non-Markets Globally and will require strong communication skills and teamwork across multiple locations and departments.


Due to the technical nature of the role and the high-volume nature of the business, the successful candidate will demonstrate an aptitude in discussing the technical aspects of valuations to pose a credible challenge to the business.


**Job Background:**


The Valuation Control Group (VCG) is an independent global group within Product Control responsible for reviewing and reporting fair value inventory consistently across asset classes.


VCG is organized along business lines and clients of the group include Business Heads, Line Product Control, Market Risk, Model Risk, Compliance, Legal Department, Middle Office, Internal Audit, external audit firms and the regulatory bodies in countries impacted by Citis footprint. VCG collaborates closely with its client base to ensure complete understanding of business valuation issues and accurate execution of valuation control policy.


The successful candidate will act as intermediate analyst in Global Securities team.


**Primary responsibilities:**


+ Responsible for working across Front Office, Product Control, Market Risk and Operations (Market Data/Collateral/Client Valuations) to perform IPV (Independent Price Verification) on the firms inventory

+ Responsible for all aspects of valuation control related to Collateral/Client Valuations and Non-Markets, including validation of market data inputs, reporting and analysis

+ Play a lead role in key valuation projects through significant involvement various work streams

+ Development of appropriate controls to effectively ensure compliance with Policies and Standards pertaining to Valuation Control

+ Acting as first point of escalation with regards to any discrepancies and price variance threshold breaches

+ Identifying pricing issues, valuation parameters or instrument types that may require particular attention with critical analysis of the valuation issues involved

+ Coordinate with VCG stakeholders to ensure that all monthly reporting deadlines are met and required documentation is archived in compliance with reporting deadlines

+ Active participation in valuation projects through significant involvement in the UAT workstreams

+ Keep up with the market developments and use the knowledge in reviewing fair value movements.

+ Creating and maintaining relevant process documentation


**Knowledge/Experience:**


+ 5+ years of experience in Finance, performing valuation related analysis on a wide array of asset types.

+ A Bachelors or Masters degree in any finance, economics or quantitative related subject

+ Comprehensive understanding of financial markets and valuation methodologies applicable to the pricing of liquid and illiquid investments

+ Understanding of current global accounting and regulatory developments pertaining to valuation of financial instruments

+ Understand complex valuation concepts

+ Proficient in MS Excel; Programming experience & VBA & SQL is a plus.

+ General understanding of financial instruments.

+ Strong work ethics and detail oriented

+ Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate and influence at an appropriate level

+ Ability to manage time and work priorities efficiently and effectively

+ Understanding how to design and maintain a robust control framework

+ Hands-on experience of implementing new or enhancing existing valuation methodologies

+ Working with other stakeholders in driving change.

+ A strong understanding of accounting for fair-valued instruments
