Salary: £45, 000 - 70, 000 per year

• We are seeking a Software Engineer who ideally has an understanding of military systems, particularly in maritime systems. The candidate should have experience with Software Engineering Lifecycle processes and tools, and a solid understanding of Open Systems Architectures and Principles. Additionally, we expect an ability to solve complex problems and critically review results and methods to ensure quality. Familiarity with ISO 9001 and TickITplus standards, as well as software configuration management is essential. The candidate must possess excellent communication skills, be able to deliver presentations effectively, and demonstrate strong written skills, especially in technical report writing. You should feel comfortable communicating with both expert and non-expert stakeholders. Proven ability in one or more of the following industry areas is preferred: Defence, Maritime, or Rail.

• In this role, you will apply a software engineering approach to undertake various tasks within the software development lifecycle. Your responsibilities will include managing software requirements (experience with DOORS is desirable), utilizing UML or Enterprise Architect for system design, and employing the Atlassian Toolset. You will work with network protocols, databases, Python, Fortran, Matlab, LabView, SQL, and web technologies (HTML, JavaScript). Usability testing and understanding IT skills, protocols, switch configuration, hardware configuration, and virtualization are also key parts of your duties. We expect you to engage in Agile software development practices as well.

This position is located in Winfrith, Dorset, offering hybrid working arrangements (3 days per week). The salary is negotiable based on experience, and we provide an excellent benefits package, including relocation assistance. Please note, due to the sensitive nature of the products we work with, all applicants must have worked within the Defence or Military industry within the last 12 months or be capable of obtaining Security Clearance (minimum SC level).
