About the team
Our Pearson School Qualifications business supports schools, teachers, learners and their parents throughout their entire school journey, from 5 to 19. Our vision is to be the partner of choice for every school and every teacher; helping every learner to achieve their full potential.
The Primary team within Pearson’s School Qualifications Product Development division develops print, digital and blended teaching and learning resources that solve customer problems and positively impact learner outcomes. Our popular products and services – including Bug Club, Power Maths and ActiveLearn Primary – are used in Primary schools in the UK and across the world. The team includes Product Managers, Content Specialists and UX Designers, who work together to innovate, develop and deliver products through the product lifecycle.
About the role
As Delivery Manager you will work closely with the Primary Heads Of Department and Product Managers, as well as external project managers and vendors, to bring about delivery excellence. You will be a driving force in the Primary team, helping us to move as one team more quickly, efficiently and cost-effectively. You will be central to achieving our goal of delivering products of the highest quality, when our customers need them.
You’ll report to a Primary Head Of Department.
The Delivery Manager will work closely with the Heads Of Department to plan delivery across the whole Primary portfolio:
Enable effective implementation of the annual cycle of the business, helping the team to stay one step ahead on key milestones
Set up and track on-time delivery, budget and quality metrics
Process management and improvement
The Delivery Manager will drive the very best practice in delivery:
Ensure any central guidance, templates and documentation are adhered to
Design and drive continuous improvement in process and workflow to be more efficient, reduce vendor costs and deliver high quality content
Collate ‘lessons learned’ and embed subsequent improvements into the team
Project set up and monitoring
The Delivery Manager will support Product Managers with early-stage project set up, and oversee smooth end-to-end delivery in partnership with the internal team and external project managers.
Provide cost and schedule estimates at the early stages of project planning and refine these with the Product Manager and external vendors
Negotiate vendor and freelancer terms and costs for each project, based on clearly-defined requirements and scope
Appoint suitable external project managers, vendors and freelancers for each project
Set up new vendors, contracts and purchase orders (with support from the administration team)
Identify potential project variances and escalate to the relevant stakeholders early
Act as an escalation point for Product Managers and project managers for critical risks
On complex projects, support the Product Manager to design and embed effective workflows from idea stage to help the team move more quickly and effectively
